Gauthameswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located on the eastern bank of the Mahamaham tank at Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu. The presiding deity is known as Gauthameswarar and Goddess Parvati manifests as Soundara Nayaki. According to legend, Gowthama muni got rid his sin of killing a cow by offering worship here.
